Esztergom is a charming little baroque town in northern Hungary, about 50 km north-west of the capital Budapest. It lies in Komarom-Esztergom county, on the right bank of the river Danube, which forms the border with Slovakia there. And Esztergom used to be the first capital of Hungary (the 10th till the mid-13th century) and still today the center of the Roman Catholic Church.
