Overview
Meet and greet your Hungarikum host at the Great Market Hall. Take in the market’s lively atmosphere, splendid architecture, and rich aromas.
Let the fresh products dazzle you, before grabbing a bite of typical Hungarian streetfood, the langos, the fried flat bread.
Enjoy it like the locals do, with sourcream and cheese and have a refreshing fröccs with it or a mulled wine in the winter, to warm you up.
Your host will tell you when and how Hungarians drink it.
What to expect
Get on the bus and head to the UNICUM House and make your way to the home of our world-class traditional digestive liqueur, the Unicum, and learn about its history from the creation in 1790 until today. Visit the cellars, see how it is made in the large oak barrels and taste the 3 most popular and luxurious flavors.
Continue your journey to a beautiful and newly renovated square in the center of the city where we will visit 2 Hungarikum stores.
In the first one, you will taste and find out about the differences between fois gras and patès. Enjoy your tasting with a selection of wines from the most famous Hungarian wine region, Tokaj.
From here you reach the HEREND Palace within 2 minutes’ walk, where you can see the beautiful selection of one of the largest and oldest fine-china manufactories in the world. An artist from our world-famous traditional porcelain producer will show you how they work and you can even try your creative skills by painting with her support.
Make your way on the bus to your next tasting, the chimney cake. Hear about this delicious fluffy and at the same time crispy sweet Hungarikum and sample 3 different types of chimney cake and receive a takeaway gift.
Your journey will take you now to the last stop of the tour, to the Palinka Museum, located in the Jewish district, where you will not only enjoy 3 tastings of palinka or palinka-cocktail with some typical Hungarian snack but also visit the interactive museum while simulating the palinka distillation and learning everything about our national spirit.
Here your guide will say goodbye to you but you can continue tasting, get some shopping done and stay as long as you wish.
